I’m a PhD Candidate at Virginia Commonwealth University, working in Andrew Eckert’s plant evolutionary genetics laboratory. My research focuses on the evolution of self-fertilization in plants, and how climate change will influence these dynamics over time. In my work, I utilize phylogenetic comparative methods, species distribution modeling, and management of large datasets.
I’m also interested in teaching and communicating science. As a graduate teaching assistant, I’ve taught introductory biology, genetics, and ecology labs, and enjoy finding new ways to improve student learning outcomes - especially in science writing, practical laboratory skills, and statistics.
